ASTs have their serial numbers on the neck plate, that's all. Older ones were around 1984-85 made first, and AST-56 or AST-62 on the headsctock, I cannot tell on newer ones (20006 +) . The logo was different (darker) letters on korean models if I recall well.

It is chinese not korean. I recall seeing one with a C + 6 digitis whith not China made sticker on the back of headstock here in Spain some years ago. This kind of serial is very odd and specs could be anything.... Not sure if one factory suervised or a direct send to any Tokai distributor of the ti...

Ask for pickup cavities, specially bridge one, there should be a inscription with the model and colour finish there in black pencil ink

Yes, they were called MKII model and avalaible in LS50 and LS60 models where 80s had 57 PAF. Some Goto like 1979 and 80 in a transition period too...

I had a LS50 Hamamatsu made in 1981 with thise pickups, they sounded correct, lacked some bass but the guitar could be a factor also. I must have a sound sample somewhere....

Mid level Japan models, 2 piece maple2 pieces top, 2 pieces body, urethane finish.
Only LS50 model below 3 pieces top. Same as LS70 but no thin laminated sheet over maple top
