Another ST50 !! Anyone know what pickups these are?

So I picked up a third Tokai Strat today ! It’s a black ST50 , prob 1985. I’ll take some proper photos soon and post them. This may possibly have `fender pickups in them . No grey bottom bobbins stamped U, E or VII. They have Black plastic bottoms with 016730 moulded into them . This corresponds wit...

Interesting, recently had a few good intonation sessions on my strats. Some better than others. Playing notes solos , you can get away with much more tolerance . Especially if you vibrato or bend a lot on notes. So I don’t have a problem unless it’s shockingly bad intonation . But it’s bar chords wh...

Thanks Felix, I tried that method and find it really really unreliable , can be useful for seeing different shapes. But even then I found it really difficult to see much difference. Do you measure from straight lines drawn? If so you’ll be out by a at least 1mm.. 23.4 at 12th seems really big - does...

Thanks for the replies and info guys. Yes was coming to the conclusion it is a ST40, looking at other photos . The tuners are the giveaway. Surprisingly they feel really solid and smooth . Which Im going to replace with standard ‘deluxe’ vintage Wilkinson as on ST50s . Plus they are so much easier t...

Another new Tokai GOLDSTAR

Hi, Just bought another Tokai on eBay! Intersting one.. Goldstar serial number 227190, which seems to place it as as 1985 ST60. Would that be correct ? Here’s the photos , have taken it apart to see what’s original https://www.dropbox.com/sh/khowij0bwlbx5br/AAC-D4kG-hUKvZt8w2QBLe4_a?dl=0 Now to my s...

Re: Goldstar

Steve I followed this guitar and thought about buying it. I own a 1983 Goldstar which is very, very similar to this guitar. My serial number is 15571, so it should be close. Apart from the obvious changes, everything tallies with mine. I got the guitar brand new in autumn 1983, so know it's correct...

Hi and welcome to the forum. About the final prospec saddles and deluxe tuners, I believe 1982 was when those started. Thanks So mine may have bits that were more commonly seen on Goldstars , but first introduced on 1982 Springys onwards, and that might explain the neck headstock trus rod filler de...

Just got a ST50 , 1982 Possibly- Springy or Goldstar ... ?

Hi everyone, I’ve finally got my hands on a st50 . So thought I’d share it here and ask a few questions . Photos https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4wjb6ebeplxehue/AAAAqm4cr3K1pzttcO4ovnEKa?dl=0 Firstly the neck is best I’ve ever felt , the finishing is sublime , so smooth , not a fret or board edge to be f...
