Wasn't that on Yahoo not long ago? And it went for quite cheap? I recall watching one and thinking it was going to go a lot more than it did and it had a solid flame top on it, good score if so
It honestly looks like you can see a faint line traversing down from the top center seam but hard to say.
The grain in the cavity looks continuous however but that could have just matched up perfectly.
This shot almost looks like some flaming down the sides.
Issue is, that router cut on those walls are not super smooth so that really obscures any visible flaming, ever if it were 100% conclusive that the top is solid.
Yeah those are Greco routes for sure, later 70s.
Which there is nothing wrong with that at all but not a Tokai body as their routes are rounded, Fujigen like.
That is for sure.
Love how they serialized the neck tenons too but this would be eventually cut off once fitted.
Wonder if they were matched or similar to how the Tele's and Strats were?
I suspect they were random and used for dates and production batches but cool nonetheless.
The dark spots?
Not sure, almost looks like stain or glue spots.
No glued piece on the back, that is a lip left from the router bit when rounding over the edge.
I bought this as you see it, the seller said it was bought in 1980 directly from Tokai via some sort of build your own/seconds sale...
