    LS120 with solid maple cap

Congratulations, Mike. Eight pounds, and a top that pretty that's solid? That's clearly a step up from the 79 LS-100 I have for reference. That's a spectactular guitar.

2003 Tokai Les Paul Custom Shop ( Gibson '59 Replica )

I'm even less familiar with newer Tokais than I am with older Tokais, but I saw all the bright white plastic on this guitar and I instantly thought of the snowy mountain caps of Korea. Seems a bit steep for an MIK instrument, no?

pics of mystery bridge on love rock

<<Nicely designed bridge there. All it needs is some individual saddle height adjustment.>> Do you get any more adjustment with a Gibson-style ABR-1? I suppose you could file down a saddle, but I never have. Have you?

    LS320 eBay

That's a beautiful guitar. Since I recently expressed my feelings about funny inlays and other minor cosmetic missteps on recent Gibson guitars, I wonder if anyone else looked at these photos and thought if the inlays might look a bit too yellow? (I do recognize that it's tough to know if...

    LS120 with solid maple cap

??2552? If I converted that right it's about $4500 US for the real deal. Congratulations are in order - I think that's a fine price for heirloom-quality a guitar a guy would keep forever. I'll bet you slide the case under your bed at night just to keep it near and safe! <g> Don't get me wrong...

pics of mystery bridge on love rock

I think Schaller stuff is generally of very high qulaity and not cheap. I'd think a roller bridge would be best utilized on something with a bigsby (where the strings otherwise saw back and forth over non roller bridges and occasionally get stuck) but there's certainly nothing wrong with that...

    LS120 with solid maple cap

I believe the Rossington is also aged by Murphy. It's a great guitar. You have to scroll down a bit to see them, but this site has a few nice photos. http://www.davesguitar.com/products.html?13256 A Murphy-aged Gibson is a sure thing, but is priced closer to my budget for a car than a guitar...

Looking for a Springy Sound rosewood neck

Hi RA, I don't have a 60s style Springy Sound neck for sale, but I could make great use of a 60s style Springy Sound body (with 3 tone sunburst). If you find a more complete guitar and want to part it out, let me know. Scott

Intonation Problem with LS75 Love Rock

Hi Dominik, First make sure you're not going the wrong way (I say this from experience). If the fretted 12th fret note is flatter than the open string, you'll want to make the string shorter, so move the saddle closer to the nut. However, make sure the pitch changes in the anticipated direction...

Are there mistakes in the LoveRock Serial Numbers???

Hi Ian, As Mike may have mentioned, there was a recent article in Vintage Guitar Magazine about the guitars (Jimmy Wallace, KM, Leo, etc..) you mentioned. Please let me know if I can help with any additional research on the Gibson end. (I wonder if I still have that issue at home? House...

Are there mistakes in the LoveRock Serial Numbers???

To answer Ian's question, I do believe that original 1960 Les Pauls had inked-on serial numbers. According to this site (which seems to match my memory) Gibson began imprinting serial numbers in 1961: http://www.intersilo.com/gibson.asp

    LS120 with solid maple cap

I was also wondering if an LS-120 would really have a two-piece (rather than one-piece) back. If so, that and the veneer top are really making me think an LS-100 is a step up! From the ad: <<These instruments came with a sticker on the back of the headstock designating their model. The sticker...

1979 LS-100 Les Paul Reborn Pickup Question

Here's some follow-up information. In further emails with Steve at DiMarzio (who was really kind and helpful), he said this: <<Oops. I design them, but I apparently don?t always recall who we sold them too. I?m informed that we did do business directly with Tokai in the late 1970s. However...

1979 LS-100 Les Paul Reborn Pickup Question

Thanks to Mike and Ian for their replies. I'll check out the other threads Ian mentions and I suspect Mike is right about the DiMarzios - HOWEVER - when I asked the folks at Dimarzio if they could confirm what pickups were sold to Tokai during this era, DiMarzio's Steve Blucher was kind enough...
