yes, thanks, JSD-653 looks right, I found at least one picture with same headstock, from http://surinvintage.com/forum/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=3196&extra=page%3D4 too. No idea what they say, but picture matches.

Hi, I'm new here and wanted to know if some of you experts can identify my guitar model here. It's mid 80's japanese strat with custom edition headstock but the label font is large. Serial number is L29917. Here is a link to pictures...
