    LS120 with solid maple cap

time you started counting the number of pieces that make up the mahogany back on that LS60 :-? agreed on the LS120 - looks like an LS70F from 2001 to me ... odd GB

Which pickup rings for my Love Rock?

I would go for curved. My LR has split the neck pickup ring in the centre because of stress caused by the ring not following the contour well enough. flat will break after a time. GB

    Tops ??? Sycamore vs Maple

Yeah but I think we'd all agree that a '78 LS60 reborn is a very different beast to an 80's onward love rock LS60 which is what I was talking about. From somewhere in the eighties the LS60 was specced with 3 peice backs whereas the LS70's have two. Capacitors!!!!! don't even go there :evil...

    Tops ??? Sycamore vs Maple

Also worth pointing out that the LS60 (plain maple cap) guitars have 3 peice mahogany body whereas the LS70 (veneer types) have a two peice mahogany body. So does the extra glue in the mahogany back have as big an effect as the extra glue for the veneer ??? Given that the mahogany is the...

I just bought a real Gibson Les Paul Standard

To a point, but we are also entertainers who play music for people to enjoy. The people that come to gigs only know two names and they love to see a 'real' strat or LP reproducing the songs they love. I have both Tokai and Gibson - the Tokai is much sweeter and is used for everything but for...

    more dodgy ebay descriptions

yet another one off special because it has no serial number or is that because it's Korean  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=3725099917&rd=1 I suppose the question is are these people making the stories up themselves or are they being mislead by some...

I think he's finally lost the plot! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2384&item=3723341195&rd=1 ?1750!!!! Where's the smiley that rolls around the floor laughing? GB

Whats' so special about this Love Rock?

This is just the LR Relic done for the uk market - Ned has the details on the registry pages. They cost about ?1000 brand new so you'd have to be a bit dull to buy at this price. GB

    Love rock ll

Hi Ned, Interesting then that the LR II is the same in the states - I was told by the UK distributor that they were specced by them for the Uk market. Maybe some porky pies on the part of the UK guys then? :-? Still I don't blame Tokai for shipping them world wide coz they are rather nice...

    Love rock ll

Not sure but I think we might have some crossed wires here. The Love Rock II uk version is a new guitar for 2004 and looks like this: http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk as opposed to the US Love Rock II which is kinda Les paul-ish but with bits shaved off as it were. Which version did you get...

TG lol! I have a story about Mr M A few years ago (too many to remember), when Yngwie was a young upstart, I was recording at Zomba records studio in Willesdon and in the next studio was the man himself remixing a live album......... with the tape speed down ...

    Jackson Guitars

yep! my fave 80's effect noise was the old floyd growl - hit a note then whack the trem - brrrrrrrroowww..... lol! I've got a strat that has a nicely balanced floyd on it and even the chords growl if you hit them a bit too hard  my other fave effect/technique from back then is the Frank...
