The serial no tells us its an 1984 (along with the logo, wrong type for 1980) ?250 would be a good price. Its pretty close to what I paid for mine 18mths ago from Japan (inc shipping\tax). They are nice guitars. Played a number of genuine 70's Fenders and my SS is easily as good as if not...

Looks genuine to me, 1984 from the s\n. Good price at the moment. These are going to start getting more expensive with the current exchange rates.

I would ask for a refund. Looks like a Tokai neck but the pickups\trem paintwork\routing are obviously not original and should have been clearly described in the listing as they totally devalue the guitar.

Thanks, I have been reading Guitarist from the first issue. Its a great mag but I can never remember them doing a really good detailed article on Tokai or other MIJ guitars like Greco, Burny, Orville or even Fender JV. It has only been villagers article a little while ago that I can ever recall.

Are Guitarist doing a Tokai feature then ? Any idea what its going to cover ?

Did any of the "High end" Hondo guitars get sold in the UK or Europe ? I can't recall ever seeing anything ?

I bought a Hondo 11 Les Paul brand new about 25 years ago when I first started playing. It was pretty awful, microphonic single coils under the covers, made of plywood, bolt on neck. Firewood with strings by todays standards and worth about the same in my opinion.

Brilliant, a born entertainer. Thats the best laugh I have had for a while.

I have a 79 ss36 with Maple neck, I paid a similar amount for mine, I think they are fantastic value and must be the vintage guitar bargain out there. I don't have a Springy or Goldstar but I do have 2 Squire JV strats and I would say build quality is very similar. Pickups are a little thin...

Wish I could be walking past a bin when someone is throwing away a quality guitar !. This is the second story I have heard like this, the owner of the local guitar shop was walking past a rubbish skip and rescued a nice early black Love Rock!
