    38 Special

That's my guitar in the link thread. I had one back in the eighties and wanted a replacement for years. Picked up quite a battered example last year. Stock Guitar should have fixed bridge, and exposed pole piece pups (H stamped). I would hazard a guess that the Kahler and p/ups are after...

    Tokai .38 Special

I'm doing a restoration job on one at the moment. It's a bit of a nostalgia trip for me as I had one a long while ago. The information I have manage to put together is: Production appears to run 1982-1984. The early ones have 7okai logo while later ones have Tokai script logo and 38 special...

    LS 75 Relic

I remember seeing a few of these new when I bought my ls70 in 2005. They were special order uk, but have no idea what the numbers were, they seemed to crop up in quite a few places so I suspect that numbers may have increased a little. Price was around ?1200 iirc. Sorry can't be more specific...

    Tokai love rock custom

I am the very proud (and slightly smug) owner of this fine axe. It was local to me so I put in a bid that I completely expected to fail, only much to my surprise I won the auction for a little less than my upper limit. Guitar is 2006 - pretty much mint. it's antique white so is a little more...

    Tokai 38 special gun series

I can't add too much - but I had one of these from new back in 1984. Mine was blonde and the grain visible through it. I think in terms of budget I paid about ?150 - which was upper end budget guitar price at the time iirc squires were pitching in at around ?200. Very good guitar as I recall...

I am a massive Springsteen fan and I loved it! (perhaps no suprise in that, given my opening statement). Great stuff.

    Fret King By Tokai

While hunting around the web I found this review originally in a copy of guitarist (UK mag) http://www.fret-king.com/reviews/fkguitarist_april08.pdf Although it's for Fret-King guitars, page one talks of a tie up between Tokai and Trev Wilkinson to produce "Fret-King by Tokai" guitars. It...

    Identify this guitar?

The vaneer is very thin <1mm is the general concensus. It's real wood too, so it's more decorative cheating than material cheating. Beneath the vaneer is a standard maple cap with all the tonal benefits that bestows (the vaneer is tone neutral)

    N.G.D.

Funny thing about these "canadian market" guitars is that they seem to pretty well made. Perhaps if the distributor involved with this situation had of come up with a unique name of his own to put on the headstock he'd actually have given the world a pretty cool line of guitars. Not to...

How to tell a fake tokai

I'm not an expert by any means, but the guys generally like to see serial, bridge, headstock, TRC and under the pickups. Shot of the whole guitar is useful as well.

How to tell a fake tokai

Yes Sometimes things are hard to visualise from a description.

    Springy Questions

I've just seen Loz's post - a nice guitar and likely to be the one I've been looking for these past months. Think I should do my level best to give it good home !! :D

    Springy Questions

Well maybe not so much questions more clarifications of what I think I know. Block logos - I assume these were transitional between 7okai and tokai - roughly what sort of period was this (I assume it's around 82/83). Was the block logo applied to springys only or do any goldies have it (I know...
