    Two-piece neck

Interesting point. I have noted that prices seem to be escalating recently. That's my plan. Just have to be sure not to insult, so I want to feel good about my knowledge. Thanks much!

    Two-piece neck

Wulfman - The guitar is very much like the one you posted, though yours appears to have been higher quality. Flametop is a match, but I'm quite sure this one will not have Screaming pickups. The hardware on the one I am considering is not in the best shape either. Guess I should have added...

    Two-piece neck

Thanks for all the responses! The seller refers to the guitar as a Greco LP Custom. Serial number indicates a June 1987 production. Visually, it has many of the characteristics of the mid or perhaps mid-to-high quality guitars produced by Greco. It's a long drive to see and hear it, so I am...

    Two-piece neck

Was close to a purchase on the pictured '87 LP, but had (and have) discomfort with the two-piece neck. Was this a common practice for Greco? Is there reason to be concerned?

    SE450 Super Sounds pickups

Thanks much for responses. The serial number is on the neck plate, and indicates February 1979. One of two things is true then...Greco had not yet completely conformed to Fender as standard in 1979, or I bought a guitar of questionable lineage. It does play and sound great, so I am happy with...

    SE450 Super Sounds pickups

Picked up a '79 SE450 Super Sounds that plays and sounds great. The pickups are noisy, however. I can accept the hum, but they're microphonic at high gain. Rather than potting them, I want to shelve them as I was told they are originals, and they do sound great. I've found that GFS models...

    HELP identifying a GRECO hollowbody

The lack of a serial number and the six triangles on the head indicate MIK. From the bits and pieces I've gathered from a variety of sources (including this list), MIK have inferior electronics. One thing I've noted, however, is that every one I've seen is in fairly good condition. That might...

    Greco Custom (White)

With shipping (and excluding customs, since that's variable), this guitar was under $700USD. It appears in good condition, but it's hard to know if the electronics are comparable to other guitars at that price. Anyone here have experience with MIK (or non-MIJ) Grecos to be able to compare? If...

    Greco Custom (White)

I saw this one, and the headstock has the six triangles, which I've come to believe is the mark of an MIK. I wish I could play an MIK to feel and hear the quality compred to a Gibson LP. I've never hd the pleasure of playing a Greco. Someday...

    SE "Super" series rank

Thanks so much, Otto and Wulfman, for the tipping point. A seller here in the States wants $899 for a 1980 Super Power. It looks to be in excellent condition, but when shipping is added, it's prohibitive. I'm beginning to think I'll just have to pay more than value if I want a Greco.

    SE "Super" series rank

In a search for a Greco Strat, it seems to me that Super Sounds is a step up from Super Power, which is a step up from Spacey Sounds. But this is just perception, as it's difficult to find evidence. Anyone here have a means to decipher quality in the Strat models based on names? I know Super...

    LP Custom

Wulfman - Thanks so much for the pickup series photo. Privilege to be a list member here, it is. And...very nice guitar! Someday, I will post pics of my own high-end Greco, I hope.

Love this guitar. It's what I've been hoping to find. Thanx for the peek. 8) 8)
